This past June, Libi and I decorated another baby shower for one of the dear expecting mommies of our church. We put together everything from the invitations, to the labor intensive tassels. The shower was hosted in my house, resulting in a cozy, merry gathering due to the compact nature of my living room. Our color palette needed to be gender neutral, so we chose six coordinating colors: three bold (red, brown, and dark blue) and three softer tones (baby pink, powder blue, and a copper shade of brown). We turned to the great outdoors for help and gathered bundles of sticks for the large branch display above the food table (see above and below pictures). After tallying up the costs of supplies, we spent about $50, and for such a classy shower that resulted, we were super happy with our thriftiness! However, the hours added up in the making and set up of decorations; a total of 15 hours. All round, this shower was a delight (even the many hours spent making tassels!). Mercy, our beautiful photographer, captured this event perfectly! Every picture snapped was amazing, so we just had to share all of them with you!
The lovely expecting mother gave Libi and I free reign, only telling us she likes owls. We decided early on that this should be classy, reflecting the mother-to-be’s style, and set out to incorporate owls, without the cartoon feel. This required much more brainstorming, but it all came together in an elegant fashion.
These fabric centerpieces were so much fun to make! Libi and I made our own feather stamps for the fabric and stamped away, though I do admit it was quite hard to keep one’s fingers from getting grey!
All of the pink blossoms on this branch were shaped by hand (Libi’s hands) and individually glued on to the branch! I think Libi did a TERRIFIC job! She has such patience for things like this
All the tassels were hand assembled by us and a few willing participants (ahem, siblings). The making process was very time consuming but we are very happy with the way they turned out. They added a feeling of celebration and a pop of color to the theme.
This is the feather corsage we made to match the “owls and feathers” theme.
And last but certainly not least, the lovely expectant mother and her as-of-last-June youngest daughter! This was such a happy shower, and I hope this beautiful mother was blessed by all the ladies who showered her and her growing flock with love and encouragement!
